Baseball TV Schedule

Baseball TV Schedule is produced to provide fans with relevant information on current and past MLB and some college baseball schedules. The primary purpose for this site is to find and publish relevant information on MLB spring training, regular season, and post-season play that fans will find useful.

The MLB season typically kicks off in early April after teams have gone through pre-season camps in February and run through their spring training games over the course of March and early April. For fans who haven’t made the trip to spring training in more than a decade, most MLB teams have significantly upgraded the experience (and the price) to include greater access to stars, better facilities, and more quality meal options when taking in spring games.

For the 2012 MLB season, there are 30 total teams with 14 assigned to the American League in three divisions and 16 to the National League across three divisions. With the approved sale of the Houston Astros, this will change in 2013 with the Astros moving to the American League to balance the teams across the two leagues to 15 teams each. Although we could see the expansion in 2012 still, the MLB playoffs will also expand to include additional Wild Card Teams by 2013.

Other key dates for the 2012 MLB season include the start of Spring Training games on March 2nd and 3rd, 2012; the Japan Opening Series featuring Seattle vs Oakland at the Tokyo Dome on March 28th and 29th, the season opener on April 4th, 2012 featuring the newly renamed Miami Marlins and Cardinals at the new Marlins Park, and MLB Opening Day on April 5th, 2012. Jackie Robinson Day then follows on April 15th, 2012, and MLB Interleague Play starts on May 18th, 2012. June 4th-6th is the First Year Player Draft, the All-Star Home Run Derby is on July 9th, 2012 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, and the 83rd All-Star Game is on July 10th, 2012. October 3rd, 2012 marks the end of the 2012 MLB regular season.

2012 also marks the first season in what seems like forever, that Tony La Russa will not be managing a Major League Baseball team after leading the St. Louis Cardinals to the 2011 MLB World Series Title. This season also sees Theo Epstein at the helm of baseball operations for the Chicago Cubs and the Boston Red Sox under new management after their late season collapse in 2011.
