2012 Pittsburgh Pirates Schedule

The Pittsburgh Pirates are a Pittsburgh based baseball team who play in the Central division of the Major League of Baseball. The team first began playing in 1887 for the National League in the Eastern Division right until 1993. In 1994, the team was moved under the Central Division where they have yet to win a title. Today, the Pittsburgh Pirates play at the PNC Park based in Pennsylvania. The team one of a few that has remained in their founding city for their entire history in the MLB.  The Pittsburgh Pirates are known to some as the Bucs or the Buccos. The 2012 Pittsburgh Pirates season is about to start soon, and let’s hope it brings in some luck for them.

Since entering the Central Division, the Pittsburgh Pirates have not won a single title, which sort of puts them in a bad spot. Throughout the season, the team plays a series of great games, but they don’t always end up making to the finals. In the team’s history, they have managed to swipe off five World Series titles, nine pennants and nine eastern division titles. The Pittsburgh Pirates have had a number of era’s they went through with hopes of gaining a better team. In 1992, some great players were traded for a younger set of players, which completely failed as a targeting technique. The Pittsburgh Pirates did so bad, they that have the record for having one of the longest losing streaks in all of the major league sports.

The 2012 Pittsburgh Pirates season will begin against the Philadelphia Phillies on April 5, just two days after the last day of their spring training. Spring training for the Pittsburgh Pirates will begin early on in March. The 2012 Pittsburgh Pirates spring training schedule and the regular season schedule are currently available online. You could also call into to your local ticket counter and purchase tickets for the 2011-2012 MLB season. All of the regular season games for the Pittsburgh Pirates happen at the PNC Park, which was built in 2001. It is regarded as one of the nicest baseball fields in the nation as it looks right into the Pittsburgh skyline. The team has played at several ballparks in their time, with the last one being the Three Rivers Stadium.

If you are planning on attending one of the Pittsburgh Pirates games this upcoming season, make sure to take a look at their regular season schedule. The first game of the season begins on April 5 and run through till the beginning of October. The team is currently in their Hurdle era, which is followed by the hiring of their new team manager, Clint Hurdle. The last season was quite amazing for the team, as they made it much further down the season, as opposed to any other season they’ve played after 1997. Let’s just hope that Hurdle could turn things around for the team for the 2011-2012 season.
