Based out of St Louis in Missouri, the St. Louis Cardinals are a professional league baseball team who play in the Central Division of the MLB. The St. Louis Cardinals originally joined in the National League in 1892 and have been playing since then. After the creation of the central division, the team was devised into it in 1994. The St. Louis Cardinals are known by their signature colors, red, navy and white. When the team officially began playing in 1892, the team name was, St Louis Browns, but the name changed in 1900 to represent the city the play from. Other renowned names for the team include, The Birds, The Redbirds and the Cards.
In their history, the team has won eleven World Series, which is actually the most in the league itself. However, overall the team ranks at number two after the Yankees who have a total of twenty-seven wins. The St. Louis Cardinals have tied up against some of the greatest teams in the league, such as the Giants, Yankees and Dodgers. Winnings have been trim when facing the Yankees, but they still managed to pull through a total of eleven times in their time at the MLB. The longest standing rivalry in the major league of baseball would have to be the one between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs. Fans are always excited to see both teams play a match, as it is always an interesting one.
The St. Louis Cardinals have a total of eighteen National League pennants, four American Association pennants, seven central division titles and three eastern division titles. The team currently plays for the central division, but they have played in the eastern division for sometime in the 1980’s. The 2012 St. Louis Cardinals season is going to quite interested to watch, as there have been some changes to the players. The 2012 spring should give us some indication of the performance of the team, but then again, that could be easily changed up in the end. As for the rosters, there have been many predictions, but all we can do is stay quiet and see the results. The new 2012 St. Louis Cardinals schedule has been put up by the MLB and tickets will be going on sale soon.
The 2012 season for the St. Louis Cardinals is going to start on the fourth of April and will run through to the tenth of the October. It will be a long tough season for the St. Louis Cardinals, but will they be able to take home the 2012 World Series? There are a number of strong teams in the baseball league, so being able to top it off will surely be tough. The St. Louis Cardinals will kick off their first game with the Marlins in Miami.
