Based out of the heart of St-Petersburg, Florida, the Tampa Bay Rays are the official Major League Baseball team representing the city. They play in the Eastern Division of the American League, which they joined in 1998. The Tampa Bay Rays is a late comer in the baseball industry, but they still managed to tie in some titles in the last few years. 2008 was the year they really hit it off for the team, as they won their first division title. It took the Tampa Bay Rays about ten years to fully strengthen out the team, but they finally managed to get it on the right track. The team could be spotted on the field with their signature colors, white, navy blue, dark blue and gold. When the team officially stated in 1998, they were known as the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, but in 2008, the team changed its name to the Tampa Bay Rays.
The 2012 Tampa Bay Rays schedule is available online for viewing through a number of sources. All of the Tampa Bay Rays home games have been and still are being played at the Tropicana Field in St-Petersburg. The stadium itself is an indoor multi-purpose complex that not only serves baseball, but football and hockey as well. From 1993 to 1996, the NHL Tampa Bay Lightning played at the Tropicana Stadium. Today, the field is home to the Tampa Bay Rays, NCAA Bowl and Under Armour All-America Game. With seating for over forty-five thousand fans, the Tropicana Field is one of the best locations in the area to serve Major League sports such as baseball. The 2012 season games will be happening at the Tropicana Stadium this year.
Over the course of the Tampa Bay Rays’ history, they have managed to win two Eastern Division titles, which were in 2008 and 2010. The team’s first American League pennant was in 2008 as well, making it a big year for the Tampa Bay Rays. It was in 2008 when things had turned around for the team, which lead to the name change, new uniforms and different prospects. The team was focused on keeping its strong players from 2007, while still signing on some great free agents and passing through some good trades. 2011 didn’t give the Tampa Bay Rays what it needed, but let’s hope and see whether 2012 would be a charm for the Tampa Bay Rays. The 2012 season will start for the Tampa Bay Rays with them facing the New York Yankees at the home stadium in St-Petersburg. Similarly, the end of the regular season will be played against the Baltimore Orioles in Florida.
