The Chicago White Sox are a professional baseball team from Illinois, who play in the Central Division of the American League. The team originally came together in 1894, but only joined the American League in 1901. In 1969, the Chicago White Sox joined the West Division and remained in that state for twenty-four years until they switched to the Central Division. There are two teams in Chicago that represent the state in the MLB, one of which is the Chicago Cubs. The Chicago White Sox are one of the eight original teams that came together in the charter franchise. Prior to the current name, the team was referred to as the Chicago White Stockings.
A couple of weeks ago, the 2012 Chicago White Sox schedule listing was released with game, time and opponent details. Overall, the team will start playing in the spring training session which is going to be held at the Camelback Ranch Stadium in Arizona. For the spring training session, the Chicago White Sox play in the cactus league along with a bunch of other baseball teams. The 2012 baseball season will begin right at the end of the spring training session, which will be on April 6. There will be two exhibition games this year, with the Houston Astros and the Chicago White Sox, as they play a two day game.
The Chicago White Sox are a fairly good team in the Major League of Baseball, as they’ve won the World Series title in 1906, 1917 and 2005. Along with this, the team has managed to win six American League pennants, three Central division titles and two Western division titles. Even though the team is currently in the Central division, the once did play in the Western division of the league. During the first decade of the Chicago White Sox, they were recognized as one of the top performing teams, as they had a strong team with great players. As years went by, many members were replaced with new recruits and things start to change. Hopefully, this upcoming 2012 season will be a little bit brighter for them.
All the home games for the Chicago White Sox are played at the US Cellular Field, located in the heart of the city. The stadium was once known as the Comiskey Park, but later changed names due to the sale of the naming rights to a US telecommunications company. The field opened for games in 1991, with recent renovations in the ten year period between 2001 and 2011. Renovations have ranked up the total cost of the construction to two hundred and fifty million dollars. The stadium currently seats forty thousand fans, which is standard for most modern baseball fields.

On a similar note,, It seemed as if the Chicago White Sox had a shot at making a run for the AL Central for a short while. The recent struggles of the Detroit Tigers made the chances of the team winning the division all the more realistic, but recent series losses to the Mariners, Angels, and Royals have all but killed the notion that the White Sox will go anywhere this season.
